The Drever History
Breeders originally bred Drevers in Sweden. Drevers trace their genealogy from the Westphalian Dachsbracke which is a type of German hound called Bracke. People chose the name Drever through a contest according to some literature related to this particular breed.

The Drever is a Swedish breed which shares the genealogy with the Westphalian Dachsbracke a german hound called Bracke. People brought the German hound to Sweden and crossbred with other classes In the early 1900s. The name Drever was derived from the word “drev” (Swedish word), referring to the ability of the breed to hunt and drive the prey towards the hunter.
What Were They Bred For?
Way back in early 1930-1950, this breed was used as a hunter to hunt deer, fox, and hare. Hunters used the advantage of the short-legged of the Drever to track deer.
